Setting up text messaging
Turn on texting and Vallo can follow up with your callers by text — a quick note after a missed call, a booking link, a reminder. You set it up once from Dashboard → Messaging.
Before any business can text customers in the US, the phone carriers require a one-time registration. It's how they keep spam off the network, and it's what makes sure your texts actually get delivered. Vallo walks you through it and handles the back-and-forth with the carriers.
What you'll need
- Your business name and address, as they appear on your tax or state filings
- Your business EIN (federal tax ID). No EIN because you file under your own Social Security number? That's fine — there's an option for that.
- A mobile phone that can receive a text
How it works
- Tell us about your business. Go to Dashboard → Messaging and answer a few questions — your business type, name, address, and how you'll use texting. About 5 minutes.
- We submit it for you. Vallo sends everything to the carriers and tracks it. There are two reviews: first the carriers verify your business (usually minutes), then they approve what you'll text your customers (usually a few days, sometimes up to two weeks when carriers are busy).
- Texting turns on. Once both are approved, Vallo texts your customers from your existing number. Nothing else to set up.
You don't have to wait on the page — we'll email you as each step is approved, or if a carrier needs a change.
Checking your status
Dashboard → Messaging shows where you are in the two-step review at any time, so you always know what's done and what's still in progress.
If a carrier asks for a change
Sometimes a carrier rejects a registration — usually a small mismatch, like a business name that doesn't match public records. If that happens, you'll get an email and see what to fix on the Messaging page. Make the change and resubmit; your approved steps are kept, so you don't start over.
If you're a sole proprietor
If you don't have an EIN and file taxes under your own Social Security number, pick Just me, no EIN. You'll verify your identity by replying to a quick text — reply within 24 hours and you're usually approved in minutes.
